Choose this one if
- You already own Bells of Steel cable towers and want a true crossover
- You want cable crossovers, which need real distance between the columns
- You have twelve feet of wall
The detail
A cable crossover needs distance, and that is what this converter provides. The movement — arms sweeping across the body from two widely separated high pulleys — does not work on a functional trainer where the columns are 30 inches apart. It needs the pulleys spread wide enough that the cables cross well in front of you.
The number to plan around is 144.4 inches assembled — twelve feet. That is a wall's worth of space, and it is the single fact that decides whether you can own this. The converter itself spans 111.4 inches between the towers.
Fifty pounds of hardware is all the converter is, which tells you what it really is: a beam and pulleys that turn equipment you already own into a crossover. You need the towers separately. Read it as an upgrade path rather than a machine.
A 250 lb cable weight capacity is generous for crossover work, which is a light, high-range movement by nature.
The two assembled heights — 83.2 or 92.45 inches — correspond to the tower height you pair it with. Check yours, and check your ceiling: 92 inches needs a real 8-foot room.
At 2.3 by 2.3 inches the converter matches the cable tower's tubing size, which is what it is designed around.
The warranty splits limited lifetime on the frame and one year on parts — better than the 90 days Bells of Steel gives cables and pulleys elsewhere, and still the part that will need replacing first.
