Choose this one if
- You want a rack and a functional trainer as one machine, not two
- You want two independent cable columns for flyes and crossovers
- You have 49 by 43 inches to commit permanently
The detail
This is a power rack and a dual-column functional trainer in one frame, which is the whole argument: two machines' worth of training in one machine's footprint. A separate cage and a separate functional trainer would need 49 by 43 inches plus another 53 by 30.
Two independent cable columns is what makes it a functional trainer rather than a cable tower. Independent cables give you flyes, crossovers, unilateral pressing and rotational work — movements that need two hands pulling from two different places at once, which a single column simply cannot do.
The 2:1 ratio is published with the arithmetic done: 100 lb loaded gives 50 lb of resistance using dual pulleys. That is the trade functional trainers make — half the load, twice the travel — and it is correct for the movements they exist for. It is not the machine for heavy lat pulldowns; a 1:1 attachment is.
Five-millimetre nylon-coated aircraft cable is the right specification. Cable is the consumable on any pulley machine, and coated aircraft cable resists the fraying that eventually puts a machine out of service.
Nine hundred pounds is the number to plan around, and it is not a capacity — it is the machine's own weight. This arrives on a pallet and it is placed once. The 43 by 33 inch interior is enough to squat and bench in and tight for anything involving movement inside the cage.
At 87 inches tall it needs a full 8-foot ceiling.
Force USA does not publish a rack weight capacity or a cable weight capacity on this page. For a machine at this price both are worth having in writing before you order.
