The detail
This is not an optional accessory if you use front-mounted attachments. REP says so plainly: if you are using Spotter Arms or Iso Arms on the front of a PR-5000 without bolting the rack down, front foot extensions are required.
The physics is simple. A loaded arm hanging off the front of a rack is a lever trying to tip it forward, and the rack resists that only by its own weight and the distance from the pivot. Adding 26 inches to the base moves the pivot point out past where the load acts. Bolting into concrete solves the same problem differently; if you rent, have a finished floor, or just do not want to drill, this is the alternative.
Built-in levelling adjustments are the 2.0's most useful addition. A concrete garage slab is never flat, and a rack that rocks on one foot is both unpleasant and less stable than the numbers suggest. Being able to shim it without a stack of washers under one corner is worth having.
The other 2.0 changes are cosmetic-adjacent: metallic black rather than matte, and a height that aligns with the crossmembers. REP distinguishes three versions — the 2.0, the originals (matte black, mismatched height), and the Mini front foot extensions, which are 11 inches shorter and made for modular storage systems. Order the right one.
3x3 inch 11-gauge steel at 32 lb for the pair is proper rack tube rather than something lighter, and the mass itself contributes to stability.
Fitment is PR-5000 uprights with 1-inch holes, and REP declines to guarantee compatibility with other brands' racks. They are compatible with the Ares and Ares 2.0 cable attachments.
Lifetime warranty on structural welds.
