Choose this one if

  • You own kettlebells and they currently live on the floor
  • You want shelves designed for bells rather than repurposed dumbbell shelves
  • You want the option of storing hex dumbbells on the same rack

The detail

Kettlebells roll, and that is the whole design problem. A dumbbell shelf is angled with no saddle, which suits a hex head and sends a kettlebell straight off the front. REP's answer is a flat shelf with a back lip — flat so the bell sits on its base, lipped so it cannot walk backwards off the shelf as you take its neighbour.

REP is unusually specific about what goes where, and it is worth quoting: hex dumbbells work on a kettlebell shelf; round dumbbells work but may roll; kettlebells will not work on either a hex or a saddle shelf. If you own a mix of kettlebells and dumbbells, the KB shelf is the more universal of the two.

Fifteen hundred pounds per shelf is a serious rating — REP notes it comfortably supports 8 to 24 kg sets, which is most of a competition ladder. Check your collection's total rather than assuming, because a shelf failing drops iron at shin height.

The two-tier and three-tier choice is about wall height versus footprint. Three tiers stacks more into the same floor area; two keeps the top shelf at a height you can reach into without lifting a bell over your head.

Shelves cannot be bought separately at launch and the configurations are pre-selected. REP does document which shelf types can be swapped between frames later: short Dumbbell Rack 2.0 shelves interchange with Kettlebell Rack 2.0 shelves, but short shelves will not fit the long Commercial Rack frames. Decide your configuration at order time.

These are a freestanding line and are not compatible with in-rack storage or REP's Modular Storage System — a separate product family, not an add-on.

Assembly is a two-person job of about 30 minutes to an hour. Lifetime warranty on the frame and structural welds.
