  • You want the heaviest hardware standard REP offers, not the 5/8 in one

  • You are building a rack you will keep attaching things to for a decade

The detail

The PR-5000 is the PR-4000 with the hardware stepped up. Same 3x3 inch 11-gauge uprights, same configurator approach, but 1 inch holes instead of 5/8 — a genuinely heavier standard, and the thing that separates REP's flagship from its mainstream rack.

Bigger holes mean bigger pins, which means attachments that carry more without deflecting. It also means a different attachment series: the 5000 line, not the 4000 line. If you already own 4000-series attachments, they do not carry over. That is the single most important thing to know before choosing between the two racks, and it is easy to miss because the tube size is identical.

Hole spacing is 2 inches throughout, where the PR-4000 tightens to 1 inch through the bench zone. That is a real regression for setting press height, and an odd one on the more expensive rack — worth weighing if you bench more than you rack-pull.

Depth options run 16, 30 and 41 inches and heights 80 or 93, so the same product covers a shallow half-rack and a full deep cage. Measure your ceiling against the 93 before assuming the taller one.

The pre-selected packages bundle a multi-grip pull-up bar, sandwich J-cups and strap safeties. Strap safeties are the quiet upgrade in that list: they catch a missed rep more gently than pin-and-pipe and will not mark a bar.
