Choose this one if
- You squat, bench and deadlift and want the grip to be the last thing that fails
- You want a stainless shaft with no coating to wear through
- You want a power bar at 28.5 mm rather than the usual 29
The detail
The premise is counterintuitive and correct: a narrower shaft makes a knurl feel more aggressive. Rogue takes the knurl pattern from its 2X AGGRO Power Bar and puts it on the 28.5 mm shaft of the Ohio Bar rather than a 29 mm power shaft. Less circumference under the same pattern means each hand contacts more knurl per square inch of skin, so the bar bites harder without a sharper cut.
If you deadlift heavy with sweaty hands, that is the whole product.
Stainless with no shaft coating is the other reason to buy it. Every other finish — chrome, Cerakote, zinc, oxide — sits on top of steel and eventually wears through at the knurl, and from that point the bar rusts. Stainless has nothing to wear off: the corrosion resistance is the metal itself, so the knurl you feel on day one is the knurl you feel in a decade. In a garage that swings between freezing and humid, this is the finish worth paying for.
At 200,000 PSI the steel is above the 190,000 standard, and the 16.4-inch loadable sleeve is generous.
Everything else is committed powerlifting: a centre knurl, powerlifting marks only, controlled sleeve spin. The centre knurl holds the bar on your back in a low-bar squat and will shred a shirt on high-rep bench. This is a bar for heavy singles and low reps; the Ohio Bar is the one to live with if your training has volume in it.
The F10-R rating is Rogue's own whip-and-strength scale, and it places this at the stiff end — which is what a squat wants and a clean does not.
