The detail
Monster Lite compatibility is the reason to buy Rogue rather than a cheaper 3x3 stand. Monster Lite is Rogue's 3x3, 5/8-inch-hole standard, and the attachment ecosystem built around it — J-cups, safeties, lever arms, lat attachments, storage — is the deepest in the industry. Buying into it means the thing you want in three years probably already exists.
Westside hole spacing is the other specification that separates a serious rack from a basic one: tighter holes through the bench zone, wider elsewhere. On uniform 2-inch spacing the right J-cup height for a bench is usually between two holes.
A 1,000 lb capacity in a 49 by 48 inch footprint is the trade this format exists to make. Rogue's own point is fair — the SML-2 does bench work, pull-ups, clean pulls and floor press much like a full rack, without a cage around you.
The honest limitation is safeties. There is no rear structure to hang long straps or pins from, so a missed rep has fewer places to end up. If you train alone and push singles, the RML-390F or a full cage is the safer buy. If you lift within your limits, a stand is less steel in your way for the same work.
Eleven-gauge 3x3 uprights on three 2x3 base tubes with SAE grade 5 hardware is proper construction — the base tube count matters, since a two-tube base is where cheap stands flex.
At 92.25 inches this needs a real 8-foot ceiling. At 157 lb it is heavy enough to feel planted and light enough that two people can move it.
