- The rower will be used by several people, hard, most days
- You want the most rigid rower here and do not care what it weighs
- You want labour included in the warranty, not just parts
The detail
At 143.3 lb this is the heaviest cardio machine covered here, and the weight is the point. Mass is rigidity: a rower that flexes under a hard catch loses some of your effort to the frame and develops rattles over years. The Rower Pro at 109 lb and the Force USA R3 at 99 lb are both easier to move and less planted.
The aluminium beam paired with a steel frame is the commercial-gym combination — aluminium for a straight, light, corrosion-proof rail that the seat runs on, steel for everything that has to be stiff. Sweat destroys rowers, and Assault specifies corrosion-resistant hardware throughout.
The warranty is the tell: 7-year frame, 3-year non-wear parts, and one year of labour. Labour coverage is rare on home equipment and is what a commercial buyer needs — it says Assault expects to send someone rather than mail you a part. If you are a single home user, that is more warranty than you need, and you are paying for it.
Air resistance behaves the same as on any rower in this class: infinite and self-scaling, with no levels to set. The 350 lb user rating is generous.
Ninety-two and a half inches of floor, and 48.6 inches tall when stood up. The 20.1-inch width is narrower than the Rower Pro's 22, which helps in a corridor-shaped space.
As with the Rower Pro, Assault does not publish console or monitor details on this page. For a machine at this level that is the specification to ask about before ordering — pace, split and stroke rate are how you actually train on a rower.
