Choose this one if
- You want a rower that also works as a fixed-seat upper-body machine
- You want four-way levelling for a garage floor that is not flat
- You have 92 inches of clear floor
The detail
The seat locking pin is the feature worth buying this for. Pin the seat and the rower becomes a fixed-position upper-body pulling machine — the leg drive is removed and the work goes entirely to your back and arms. That is a genuinely different exercise, useful for conditioning when your legs are cooked and for anyone training around a lower-body injury. Most rowers cannot do it.
The three-fan resistance system is unusual. Air resistance scales with effort by nature — pull harder and it pushes back harder — and splitting the flywheel across three fans is Assault's approach to getting that curve without one enormous fan. In use the behaviour is the same as any air rower: no levels to set, no dial.
Four-way levelling is a small spec that matters in a real garage. A concrete slab is never flat, and a 92-inch rower that rocks on one corner is a rower you stop using.
The length is the constraint that decides the purchase: 92 inches. That is nearly eight feet, and the stroke needs all of it. Measure before ordering, and plan where it goes when it is not in use — at 109 lb it stands on end but is not a light lift.
Seven years on the frame and three on moving parts matches the AirBike Pro X and beats the Force USA R3's two years on parts.
Assault does not publish a performance-monitor specification on this page — no console detail, no stroke rate or split. On a rower the monitor carries most of the training value, so ask before ordering; that is where the Concept2 RowErg has historically been hardest to beat.
