Choose this one if

  • Skullcrushers hurt your elbows with a straight or EZ bar
  • You want neutral-grip pressing in a bar under three feet
  • You have almost no space and want one arm-training bar

The detail

A tricep bar is a small Swiss bar, and the neutral grip is the whole point. Skullcrushers and close-grip presses with a straight bar put your forearms in pronation and your elbows under a twisting load; palms facing each other removes that, which for a lot of people is the difference between training triceps and not.

At 34 inches long it is the shortest bar covered here by a distance — shorter than an EZ curl bar at 47 inches. It stores anywhere, it is usable lying on a bench in a room with no clearance, and one person can pick it up with one hand.

The two limits are related and both real. The 330 lb capacity and 70,000 PSI tensile are the lowest figures on this site, and the 6.5-inch sleeve holds about one 45 lb plate per side. For skullcrushers, close presses, rows and hammer curls that is genuinely enough — those are movements measured in double figures, not triples. It is not a bar to get creative with.

Seventy thousand PSI is worth understanding rather than dismissing: it is a structural steel figure rather than a barbell-grade one, consistent with a short bar carrying a fraction of a barbell's load. Just do not treat the 330 lb rating as conservative.

Medium knurl is the right amount for a bar held through long sets, and Cerakote over the shaft is a better finish than this class of bar usually gets — it resists corrosion and abrasion where zinc would patina.

At 25 lb the bar's own weight is a significant part of a light set. Write it down.
