Choose this one if
- Straight-bar curls irritate your wrists or the inside of your elbow
- You want the cheapest fix for that problem
- You have a small space and want a bar under four feet long
The detail
The problem an EZ bar solves is specific: a straight bar forces your forearms into full supination, and for a lot of people that position irritates the wrist or medial elbow within a few sets. The angled sections put your hands semi-supinated instead, which most people can hold without pain and which barely changes what the biceps do.
Hard chrome is the right finish here and better than most bars at this level get. Hard chrome is thicker and more wear-resistant than the decorative chrome on entry bars and far more durable than zinc, which matters on a bar that gets handled constantly and put down on concrete.
At 47.5 inches this is under four feet — it stores anywhere, and it is usable in a room where a 7-foot bar cannot be swung. Nineteen pounds is standard for the type and light enough that the bar's own weight is not a factor.
Two limits to plan around. The 330 lb capacity is the lowest of any bar covered here, which is fine for curls and triceps work and not fine for heavy rows. And the 6.5-inch sleeve holds roughly one 45 lb plate plus change per side — the practical ceiling before the capacity even matters.
Medium knurl is correct for a bar held through long sets.
The SupraCurl is the same idea with rotating handles, at 25 lb and a 7.5-inch sleeve. If a fixed angle is already comfortable for you, this is the cheaper and lighter bar; if it is not, the rotating handles are what you are actually looking for.
