  • You are teaching someone the Olympic lifts from scratch
  • You want a light bar that still has proper knurl marks
  • Your space cannot take an 86-inch bar

The detail

Fifteen pounds is the point, and the 150 lb capacity tells you the rest. This is a teaching bar. A beginner learning to snatch or clean needs to groove the movement before adding load, and a standard 45 lb bar is already too heavy for many people to move well — which means they learn a compromised pattern.

Dual IWF and IPF knurl marks on a training bar is the detail that matters. Hand placement is one of the first things you teach, and a bar without marks means teaching it wrong or by eye. Fringe has kept the marks that make it a real teaching tool rather than a toy.

The 150 lb capacity is a hard limit, not a conservative one. Aluminium with a chrome finish is light because it is aluminium, and it will bend under load a steel bar shrugs off. Do not treat this as a light barbell — treat it as a training aid that stops being useful the moment your lifter can handle 155 lb.

At 72 inches it is 14 inches shorter than a standard bar, which also suits a room that cannot swing a full-length bar — though the Titan Shorty at 14 kg and 1,000 lb is the bar to buy if space rather than weight is the problem.

The 9.5-inch sleeve is short and consistent with the capacity — about two bumpers or a couple of iron plates per side.

Twenty-eight millimetres is the standard Olympic shaft diameter, so the grip transfers directly to a full-size bar.

One year of warranty is short and appropriate for a bar with a stated ceiling.
