Choose this one if
- Your room is too narrow for an 86-inch bar
- You want a lighter starting bar at 30 lb rather than 45
- You want a bar that fits a narrow rack or a spare bedroom
The detail
Seventy-two and three-quarter inches is the whole product. A standard barbell is 86.6 inches, and in a spare bedroom, a basement with a support post, or anywhere with less than seven and a half feet of clear width, that bar simply does not swing. This one does, and it keeps a full 54.25 inches between the sleeves — so a normal grip is unchanged.
At 14 kg (30 lb) it is also a lighter starting bar, which matters for a smaller or newer lifter for whom 45 lb is already a working set.
The geometry is otherwise standard: 28.5 mm shaft, medium knurl, dual IWF and IPF marks, no centre knurl, bronze bushings. Nothing about the handling is unusual.
The two costs are both worth being clear about. The 9-inch loadable sleeve is short — about two bumpers per side, or four to five iron plates — and it is the practical ceiling on what you can load, well before the 1,000 lb rating matters. And 145,000 PSI is the lowest tensile figure of any bar covered here, below the 150,000 on entry bars from Force USA and Ironmaster and far below the 190,000 standard.
Neither is a defect given what the bar is for. A short bar in a small room is not going to see 500 lb, and the sleeve length caps you long before the steel does. Just do not buy it expecting a primary bar.
Made in the USA from American steel, and hard chrome sleeves over a bronze bushing — decent construction where it counts. The black zinc shaft will patina.
