Choose this one if

  • Straight-bar curls hurt your wrists or elbows
  • You want grip training built into your arm work
  • You want a short bar for a small space

The detail

An EZ curl bar exists because a straight bar forces your forearms into full supination, and for a lot of people that position irritates the wrist or the inside of the elbow within a few sets. The 135-degree angled sections put your hands in a semi-supinated position instead, which most people can hold without pain and which barely changes what the biceps do.

The 2-inch shaft is the unusual part. A standard EZ bar is around 28 to 30 mm; this is a fat bar. That does two things: it removes strain from the wrists by spreading the load across more of your hand, and it turns every set into grip work. If your forearms are the limiting factor on your pulling, that is a feature. If you want to isolate the biceps without your grip failing first, it is not — a thin bar is the better tool for that.

At 19 lb the bar is light, and at 55 inches long it is short enough to store anywhere and to use in a room where a 7-foot bar is unmanageable.

Two limitations to be clear about. Fringe states plainly that this bar is not rackable — it lives on the floor or on a wall rack, and you cannot set it in J-cups for a rack-out. And the loadable sleeve is 9 inches, which is roughly two 45 lb iron plates per side. For curls and skullcrushers that is more than enough; do not plan on heavy rows.

One year of warranty on a solid powder-coated bar with no moving parts is short on paper and largely irrelevant in practice.
