Choose this one if

  • You want a bar with no centre knurl at all
  • You want bearings and a bushing per sleeve rather than one or the other
  • You want a lifetime warranty on a bar and can live with 150,000 PSI

The detail

Four needle bearings and a brass bushing in each sleeve is an unusual combination, and a sensible one. Bearings give you the fast, low-friction spin that Olympic lifting needs; the bushing carries radial load and steadies the sleeve so the whole assembly does not rely on needles alone. It is a more durable arrangement than pure bearings in an environment with chalk and dust.

No centre knurl at all is the other defining choice, and for most home lifters it is the right one. Centre knurl helps a low-bar squat and a clean; it also shreds your shirt and your sternum on high-rep bench. Ironmaster has picked a side, and it is the side that suits a general-purpose home bar. The dual guide marks — knurl-free, so they read as marks rather than texture — keep it usable for both Olympic and powerlifting spacing.

Fine knurl matches that brief. It grips adequately, does not tear hands on volume, and will feel slick to anyone used to an aggressive power bar like the PRX Reef.

The honest limitation is 150,000 PSI tensile, which is well below the 190,000 that good bars hit and the same figure as the entry-level Force USA Olympic barbell. The 1,000 lb capacity rating is similarly below the 1,500 standard. For a bar carrying bearings and a lifetime warranty that pairing is unusual — the warranty is strong, the steel is not.

Two dimensions worth having. 51.375 inches between the sleeve collars tells you whether the bar fits your rack's inside width, which is the measurement people discover too late. And 16.5 inches of loadable sleeve is generous, ahead of most 16-inch bars here.

Black chrome on the shaft with hard chrome sleeves is decent corrosion protection at the cost of a slightly muted knurl feel, and the finely grooved sleeves hold plates and collars better than smooth ones.
