The detail

Two thousand pounds and 220,000 PSI are the highest figures on this site by a clear margin — the Fringe Austin is rated 1,600 lb, most good bars sit at 1,500. Whether you will ever test that is irrelevant; capacity headroom is what keeps a bar from taking a permanent set after years of heavy work, and a bent bar is a dead bar.

Low whip and a 29 mm shaft are the powerlifting specification. Under a maximal squat you want the bar rigid across your back rather than oscillating, and 29 mm gives you that. It is the same reasoning as the Bells of Steel Powerlifting Bar, with more steel behind it.

Aggressive mountain knurl is the spec to think hardest about. Mountain knurl is sharp and it does not let go — which is exactly what you want on a max deadlift with sweaty hands, and exactly what will tear your palms on a high-rep set. This is a bar for heavy singles and low reps. If your training involves volume, the Thresher with medium volcano knurl is the more livable choice.

IPF marks only, no weightlifting marks, and Delrin bushings rather than bearings. There is no ambiguity about what this bar is for.

The QPQ sleeve coating is unusual and worth knowing: it is a nitriding process that hardens the surface rather than plating over it, so it wears well and resists the scoring that plates cause over time.
