Choose this one if

  • You want to lift outside the uprights with safeties behind you
  • Your ceiling is unusual and 81, 89 or 95 inches solves it
  • You want 1-inch spacing through the bench zone

The detail

Three heights is more choice than almost any rack offers: 81, 89 or 95 inches. Eighty-one fits a basement where a standard rack will not stand; 95 is for a garage with the structure exposed and rope climbs in mind. That range is the reason to look at this over a fixed-height cage.

One-inch hole spacing inside the bench area is the specification that separates good racks from adequate ones. On uniform 2-inch spacing the correct J-cup height for a bench press is usually between two holes, and you spend every session pressing from slightly wrong. PRX runs 1 inch where it matters and 2 elsewhere.

A half rack means lifting in front of the uprights rather than inside a cage — no steel beside your elbows, room to walk out of a squat, and space for a bench or a machine that would not fit in a four-post.

A 1,000 lb capacity on 3x3 11-gauge steel is the serious-home-rack standard, and it is the same figure as the six-post version.

Anchoring hardware is not included, and on a half rack that matters. A loaded front is a lever trying to tip the rack; bolting it down or adding front feet is how you resist that. Budget for the anchors.

At 48 by 53 inches the footprint is compact for a half rack.

A multi-grip pull-up bar and J-cups come included, which on many racks are separate line items.

Made in the USA, and modular — PRX sells expansion packs, so the rack grows rather than being replaced.
