Choose this one if

  • You train in a garage or basement and are tired of watching bars rust
  • You want the best knurl feel available without maintaining bare steel
  • You want one bar for squats, presses, pulls and occasional Olympic work

The detail

Stainless is the only finish where the corrosion resistance is the metal, not a coating. Chrome, Cerakote and zinc all sit on top of steel and can be worn through by chalk, knurl contact and time; once through, the bar rusts from that point. Stainless has nothing to wear off — the knurl you feel on day one is the knurl you feel in a decade, and it will not rust in a humid garage.

That is the whole reason to pay for this bar. It goes further than most: both the shaft and the sleeves are stainless, where many "stainless" bars pair a stainless shaft with chrome sleeves.

The rest is deliberately central. 28.5 mm is between the 28 mm Olympic and 29 mm power standards, medium whip, medium volcano knurl, dual IWF and IPF marks. It is the same do-everything brief as the Fringe Austin bar, which is also stainless and 28.5 mm — those two are direct competitors, and the Austin's 1,600 lb rating edges this bar's 1,500.

Delrin and stainless bushings rather than needle bearings means moderate spin that tolerates chalk and neglect. If you snatch and clean seriously, PRX's own Mako with needle bearings is the bar to look at instead.

Smooth sleeves are worth noting: they mark less and let plates slide on easily, where a grooved sleeve grips plates slightly better under repeated drops. On a general-training bar, smooth is the right pick.
