Choose this one if

  • You want to read the loaded weight at a glance rather than counting plates
  • You want a budget bumper that is still thin enough to load heavily
  • You drop the bar and want a forgiving plate

The detail

These are the same durometer as the HG 2.0 plates at 88 and considerably thinner across every size. A 45 lb Color Echo is 2.36 inches against the HG's 3.25; a 55 is 2.75 against 3.75. That is nearly an inch per plate, which across five plates a side is five inches of sleeve — the difference between running out of bar and not.

If you are choosing between Rogue's budget bumpers, that is the comparison that matters. Same softness, less width, and colour coding on top.

Colour coding is genuinely useful rather than cosmetic. Seeing two blues and a green on the bar rather than counting identical black discs matters when you are training alone, changing weights often, or coaching someone through a session. Miscounting a loaded bar is a real error with real consequences.

Durometer 88 is soft — the same as HG 2.0, softer than the Fleck plates at 90 and the Competition plates at 94. Softer means more bounce and more give on landing, which is the correct trade for a plate dropped onto a garage floor.

At 450 mm the diameter is the IWF standard, so the bar starts at the right height. The 50.40 mm collar opening slides onto any Olympic sleeve.

Rogue does not publish a weight tolerance, plate material or warranty in the Gear Specs for this listing. All three are worth asking about — tolerance in particular, since it is what separates a training plate from a serious one.

Rogue lists these as not made in the USA.
