Choose this one if
- Straight-bar curls irritate your wrists or the inside of your elbow
- You want a curl bar you can actually load heavily
- You want Cerakote rather than chrome or zinc on a bar you handle constantly
The detail
An EZ bar exists to fix one problem: a straight bar forces your forearms into full supination, and for many people that position irritates the wrist or medial elbow within a few sets. The angled sections put your hands semi-supinated instead.
The 10.5-inch loadable sleeve is what sets this apart from every other curl bar here. PRX's is 6.5 inches, Force USA's is 7, Fringe's fat bar is 9. Ten and a half inches is roughly three 45 lb iron plates per side — enough that the bar stops being the limit on heavy rows and skullcrushers.
At 30 lb the bar itself is heavy for the type, where 19 to 25 lb is normal. That is more steel in a longer 54.5-inch frame, and it is a number to write down for your loaded totals.
110,000 PSI is a low tensile figure, and worth understanding rather than dismissing. A curl bar is not a barbell: it is short, it is loaded to a fraction of a squat, and the bending moment is small. Rogue backs it with a 5-year warranty, which is a longer term than the 1-year most specialty bars carry.
Cerakote on the shaft is the right choice on a bar you handle constantly. It resists corrosion and abrasion far better than zinc or thin chrome; the sleeves are bright zinc, so those will patina first.
Thirty-one and a half inches between the sleeves is the working span — check it against where you would rack it, since most curl bars do not sit in J-cups.
Made in the USA, which is unusual for a curl bar.
