Choose this one if
- You want a trap bar you can load as heavily as your deadlift
- You want two handle heights from flipping the bar
- You want knurled handles for carries as well as pulls
The detail
Sixteen inches of loadable sleeve is the number that matters, and it is what separates a serious trap bar from a token one. The PRX hex bar gives you 9.5 inches and the Fringe hex bar 12. Sixteen inches is roughly ten iron plates per side — enough that the bar is never the limit on a pull most people can load heavier than their straight-bar deadlift.
SCH 80 pipe sleeves is a specification worth noticing. Schedule 80 is thick- walled pipe, and using it for the sleeves is why 16 inches of loadable length does not flex.
The dual-handle design gives two heights from flipping the bar. The raised set shortens the range at the bottom, which suits a tall lifter or anyone working around a limitation — the same feature as the PRX bar, on a much longer sleeve.
Twenty-five inches on centre is a wide handle spacing — wider than the Fringe's 24 and the Titan rackable hex bar's 22. Wider puts your hands outside shoulder width, which loads the upper back and traps more and suits broader lifters.
Knurled handles rather than smooth is the right call. A trap bar is held for farmer's carries as often as deadlifts, and smooth steel plus sweat is how the bar ends up on your foot.
At 60 lb the bar's own weight is 15 lb over a standard barbell — Rogue's 25% reduction is against the original Rogue trap bar, not against a barbell. Write the number down.
Rogue does not publish a weight capacity in the Gear Specs. Worth asking for, though 1.5-inch square tubing with SCH 80 sleeves is not a construction that leaves much doubt.
