Choose this one if
- You want a competition-legal Texas bar without the Elite's low-profile collars
- You want a shorter centre knurl than the Elite's 6 inches
- You want 29 mm and 200K+ steel at the middle price
The detail
The Pro and the Elite share the important numbers — 29 mm shaft, 200K+ tensile, aggressive-medium knurl, single powerlifting marks, bronze bushings, and both listed as meeting all major competition specs. If you compete, either works.
Two things differ, and both are small. The collar is standard rather than low profile, and the centre knurl is 5 inches rather than 6. The Elite also gets a 16.75-inch loadable sleeve against the Pro's 16.
Collar profile changes how the plates seat and how the bar sits in J-cups; low profile is what most current competition bars use. Five inches of centre knurl against six is slightly less grip on your back in a low-bar squat and slightly less shirt damage on bench — genuinely a matter of taste.
Against the Original, the differences are larger and matter more: 29 mm rather than 28.5, 200K+ rather than 190K, and competition-legal rather than not. The Original is the historic bar; the Pro is the current one.
A 16-inch loadable sleeve is standard-good and two-thirds of an inch longer than the Original's 15.
Aggressive-medium knurl is the right compromise for a bar used across a full session: enough grip for a maximal deadlift, not so much that a long warm-up takes skin.
Maintenance-free bronze bushings, and made in Texas with American steel — the same line running since 1980.
