Choose this one if

  • You own dumbbells, kettlebells and balls and they are all on the floor
  • You want a system you can extend rather than replace
  • You want 1,000 lb per shelf, which is more than most shelving offers

The detail

A thousand pounds per shelf and 2,000 lb for the unit is a serious rating, and it is the number that separates this from the light shelving that gets sold as gym storage. A full 5 to 50 lb dumbbell set is around 550 lb; a set plus kettlebells and slam balls comfortably clears 1,000. Check your total against the figure rather than assuming, because a shelf failing drops iron at shin height.

The modularity is the reason to buy into this rather than a fixed rack. Titan sells 2-tier and 3-tier core units, 42-inch and 70-inch shelf lengths, add-on bays, extension units and shelf types for bumpers, medicine balls and corners. You start with what you have and grow the system rather than replacing it — which for storage, where your collection genuinely does grow, is the right architecture.

The 2-inch shelf lip is the small detail that matters most day to day. Kettlebells and slam balls roll. A flat shelf means chasing a 20 kg bell across the floor at some point; a lip means it stays where you set it.

At 173 lb the unit has enough mass to be stable empty, and Titan specifies bolt-down uprights with side bracing — do both. A 53.5-inch-tall unit loaded to 2,000 lb is not something to leave free-standing near where you train.

Adjustable shelf positions on staggered 17.5 mm holes at 50 mm spacing means you can set tier heights around what you actually own, rather than around a fixed grid.

Optional caster wheels are available, which on a 173 lb empty unit is worth considering — though not something you will roll loaded.
