Choose this one if

  • You want an aggressive knurl and a centre knurl at well under premium-bar pricing
  • You low-bar squat and rely on the centre knurl to stop the bar sliding
  • You care more about knurl and coating than about the last half-millimetre of shaft diameter

The detail

Read the shaft diameter before you buy this one. At 28.5 mm it is the same as a multipurpose bar like the Rogue Ohio Bar, not the 29 mm that defines the powerlifting category — the Ohio Power Bar is 29 mm, and that half millimetre is most of what separates the two categories. A thinner shaft flexes more under a heavy squat, which is the specific thing a power bar exists to avoid.

Everything else on the sheet points the other way. The knurl is aggressive diamond, there is a 5 inch centre knurl, and the marks are single powerlifting spacing — this bar is unambiguously built for the big three, not for cleans. The centre knurl in particular tells you the intended use: it grips your shirt on a low-bar squat, which powerlifters want and everyone else finds unpleasant.

Bronze bushings rather than needle bearings is the correct choice here, and for the same reason as on any bar that spends its life under slow lifts: bushings tolerate chalk, dust and dropped plates far better than bearings do.

The 200,000 PSI tensile figure sits between a budget bar and a premium one, and the 15.25 inch loadable sleeve is on the short side — you will run out of sleeve sooner than on a 16-plus inch bar if you load wide bumpers. Made in the USA at this price is genuinely unusual, and is the strongest thing on the sheet.
