Choose this one if

  • You squat, bench and deadlift and want the grip to be the last thing that fails
  • You want 200,000 PSI steel and an American-made bar
  • You want aggressive knurl and understand what that costs your hands

The detail

Two hundred thousand PSI is above the 190,000 standard, matching the Rogue Hybrid Power Bar and Titan's deadlift bar, and behind only the 220,000–240,000 outliers.

Aggressive deep diamond knurl plus a centre knurl is the specification to be honest with yourself about. Deep diamond is the sharpest common pattern and it does not let go — exactly what you want on a max deadlift with sweaty hands, and exactly what will tear your palms on a set of fifteen. The centre knurl keeps the bar from sliding down your back in a low-bar squat and will shred a t-shirt on high-rep bench.

That combination makes this a bar for heavy singles and low reps. If your training has real volume in it, a medium-knurl multipurpose bar like the Ohio Bar is the one to live with.

A 28.5 mm shaft on a power bar is slightly unusual — most power bars are 29 mm. The narrower shaft makes the same knurl pattern feel more aggressive, because your hand contacts more knurl per square inch. That is the same reasoning Rogue applies to the Hybrid Power Bar.

Oil-impregnated bronze bushings need no maintenance and tolerate chalk and grit, which is the right choice for a garage.

Black oxide is the finish to understand. It gives the closest thing to bare-steel knurl feel of any coating, and it offers the least corrosion protection of the common finishes. In a humid garage it will need wiping down and occasional oiling — the trade for how it feels.

Machine-grooved sleeves hold plates and collars more securely than smooth ones.

EliteFTS does not publish a static load rating or loadable sleeve length. Sleeve length in particular is worth asking for before you buy.
