Choose this one if

  • You are tall enough that a 19.5 in pad still leaves your feet flat on the floor
  • You want a 1,000 lb capacity without a 115 lb bench
  • Incline and upright work matter more to you than flat benching

The detail

Start with the seat height, because it is the number that decides this bench for most people. At 19.5 inches from the floor, the pad sits two and a half inches higher than the REP AB-3000's 17.1 and the Titan adjustable's 17. Competition bench height is around 17, and the reason is leg drive: if your feet do not sit flat, you cannot push against the floor, and on a heavy set that is not a detail.

If you are tall, this is a non-issue and the rest of the bench is good value. If you are not, it is the whole story — and no amount of capacity makes up for benching with your heels off the ground.

What it does well is weight. The 1,000 lb capacity matches benches costing considerably more, and at 67 lb this is the lightest bench on the site by a wide margin — the AB-3000 is 89 lb and the AB-5200 is 115. That makes it the only one here you would happily move between sessions.

The back pad is 11.5 inches wide, narrower than the 12 inch standard and much narrower than a 14 inch wide-pad option. Narrow pads help shoulder-blade retraction and give less support under the ribs; which you prefer is genuinely personal.

The one-year warranty is short for this category, where lifetime frame coverage is common. Read it as the honest signal of where the price came from.
