The detail
Magnetic resistance is the fundamental difference from every other rower here. An air rower — the Concept2 RowErg, the Assault Rower Pro, the Blitz — sets its resistance by how hard you pull: harder stroke, more air, more push-back. An eddy current brake sets resistance by a dial, and it stays where you put it regardless of effort.
Two consequences follow. It is far quieter — there is no fan moving air, so this is the rower for a flat, a shared house, or early mornings. And the feel is different: a magnetic rower does not reward a hard catch the way an air rower does, which purists dislike and most people never notice.
The folded dimension is the practical selling point: 34 inches long, standing 64 inches tall. Ninety inches of rower becomes a narrow upright object in a corner. Every other rower here needs eight feet of floor permanently or a deliberate lift to stand it up; at 80.5 lb this one is genuinely liftable.
The 16.5 lb flywheel is modest — flywheel mass is what gives a rower its continuous, unbroken feel between strokes, and a heavier wheel carries momentum better. This will feel lighter and less "connected" than a heavier machine.
Two limits. The 300 lb user capacity is the lowest of the rowers covered here, against 350 on the Assault machines and 441 on the Force USA R3. And the warranty — 2 years parts, 1 year labour, with no frame term published — is the shortest here.
It ships in two boxes.
