The detail

The Commercial Pro 50 is the same weight range as the Pro 50 built for a different life, and the spec differences all follow from that.

Knurled stainless steel grips instead of contoured TPR is the headline. TPR is comfortable barehanded and gets slick under sweat; stainless knurl grips like a barbell and, having no coating, cannot wear through. On a gym floor where dozens of hands use it daily, that is the durable choice.

The increments are coarser: 5 lb steps rather than 2.5. Nine settings against the Pro 50's nineteen. That is a real loss for a single user progressing a press, and a reasonable simplification for a floor where people grab a weight rather than program it.

Note the range starts at 10 lb, not 5 — the commercial version gives up the lightest setting.

The 32 mm grip is thinner than the Pro 50's 38 mm, which is a different judgement about hand size across many users rather than one.

A 1-year commercial warranty is short in absolute terms and standard for equipment rated for all-day use. The Pro 50's 5-year residential term is the better deal for a home buyer — and PowerBlock will not honour a residential warranty in a commercial setting, which is the actual reason to choose this version.

PowerBlock includes a stand with the Commercial Pro 50, which on the residential models is a separate purchase — a PowerStand 2.0 or a Compact Stand.
