Choose this one if

  • You own a Pro 100 EXP and want barbell movements from the same plates
  • Your space cannot take a 7-foot barbell
  • You want presses, rows and squats without buying a rack

The detail

This turns a dumbbell set into a barbell set using the plates you already own. If your gym is a room rather than a garage — no rack, no 7-foot bar, no plate tree — a 48.5-inch bar that takes your PowerBlock plates covers presses, rows, squats and deadlifts at whatever weight your dumbbells go to.

The 28 mm shaft is standard barbell diameter, which means the feel transfers: if you later move to a real barbell, your hands already know it. Compare the Pro 100 EZ Curl Bar, which is 25 mm and angled for arm work — this is the general-purpose one.

A weight chart printed on top of the handle is a genuinely useful touch. PowerBlock plates are not marked in a way that makes bar totals obvious, and counting plates every set is how people lose track of what they lifted last week.

Compatibility is narrow: Pro 100 EXP and Commercial Pro 100 only, explicitly not the Pro 32. The plate sizes differ across PowerBlock's lines, so check your model before ordering.

What PowerBlock does not publish here is the bar's own weight or a load capacity, and both matter. A short bar loaded with dumbbell plates concentrates the load close to your hands, and the bar weight is what you add to every total. Ask before ordering.

At 33 inches of usable bar length this is short — narrow-grip bench and rows work well, a wide-grip press does not. That is inherent to a bar this size, not a flaw.

Assembly is required and weights are sold separately, meaning it is a handle for plates you already have.
