Choose this one if
- Straight-bar curls irritate your wrists or elbows
- You own a Pro 100 EXP and want arm work from the same plates
- You want 2.5 lb progression on curls, which almost nothing offers
The detail
An EZ bar solves one problem: a straight bar forces your forearms into full supination, and for many people that position irritates the wrist or the inside of the elbow within a few sets. The curves put your hands semi-supinated instead.
The 2.5 lb adjustment is the underrated part. Curls are where progression stalls hardest — a standard EZ bar's smallest jump is a pair of 2.5 lb plates, which is 5 lb on a movement where you might be lifting 40. PowerBlock's micro weights, which ship with the dumbbells, make the increment 2.5 lb on the bar. Almost no dedicated curl bar can do that.
At 25 mm the shaft is thinner than the Pro 100 Straight Bar's 28 mm, which is the right call: on curls you want the biceps to fail, not the grip. It is the opposite philosophy to the fat-shaft Fringe EZ bar, which exists specifically to make grip the limiting factor.
Compatibility is narrower than the straight bar's: Pro 100 EXP only — not the Commercial Pro 100, and explicitly not the Pro 32. Check your model before ordering.
PowerBlock does not publish the bar's own weight or a load capacity here. Bar weight matters on every set's total, and on a short bar loaded with dumbbell plates the capacity is worth knowing. Ask before buying.
Forty-eight and a half inches total makes it storable anywhere and usable in a room where a full barbell is not. Assembly is required.
