Choose this one if
- You drop from overhead and want the bar to stay where it lands
- You want thin plates so more weight fits on the sleeve
- You want colour coding on a competition-grade plate
The detail
Durometer 90 to 92 is at the hard end of the range, and PRX explains what that means rather than leaving it as a number: harder, less bounce. A high-bouncing plate throws the bar back at you after a drop, which is exactly when you have missed a lift and stepped away without looking.
For comparison, Rogue's competition plates sit at 94, their HG 2.0 at 88, and Bells of Steel's crumb plates at 78 to 80.
The thickness figures are the practical headline: a 45 lb plate at 52 mm (2 inches). That is comparable to Rogue's competition plates at 2.15 inches and far thinner than a training bumper — HG 2.0 is 3.25 inches. Across five plates a side that is six inches of sleeve, which decides whether you run out of bar.
Publishing thickness for every size is rare and useful. It is the number that determines what actually fits on your loadable sleeve, and most manufacturers publish diameter instead and leave you guessing.
A solid rubber body on a steel disc insert is the competition construction: the disc spreads impact across the plate rather than concentrating it at the collar, which is what lets a plate survive thousands of drops from overhead.
At 450 mm the diameter is the IWF standard, so the bar starts at the correct height. The 50.4 mm ±0.2 mm collar opening is a published tolerance rather than a nominal figure — it will sit true without rattling.
PRX does not publish a weight tolerance or a warranty term here, which on a plate called "competition" is the specification you would most want. Ask for it.
