- Fixed-angle curl bars still bother your wrists or elbows
- You want to change grip mid-set without changing bars
- You want a short bar for a small space
The detail
A standard EZ curl bar fixes your hands at one angle, chosen by whoever bent the steel. That angle suits most people better than a straight bar and it suits nobody exactly. Rotating handles remove the decision: your wrist finds its own position through the rep instead of being held in someone else's.
That matters most at the ends of the range. Wrist and elbow pain in curls generally shows up at full extension and full contraction, where a fixed angle is furthest from what your joint wants. A handle that turns takes the twist out.
It also means you can switch between supinated, semi-supinated and neutral grips without putting the bar down, which turns one bar into three exercises.
At 49 inches long and 25 lb it is short and light — easy to store, and usable in a room where a 7-foot bar is not. Twenty-five pounds is heavier than a typical EZ bar's 19 to 20, so adjust your loading maths.
The 7.5-inch loadable sleeve is the real constraint, and it is short: about one and a half 45 lb iron plates per side. For curls, skullcrushers and triceps work that is more than enough. Do not plan on rowing heavy.
Medium knurl is the right amount for a bar you hold for sets of twelve — grippy without tearing.
PRX does not publish a weight capacity for this bar. On a short bar with rotating handles that is the number worth asking for before loading it hard, since the handle bearings are the part carrying the load.
