Choose this one if
- You want fine control over incline rather than a handful of coarse angles
- You want a competition-width 12-inch pad on an adjustable bench
- The bench will stay where you put it and does not need to be light
The detail
Fifty-plus seat and back-pad combinations is the headline, and the maths behind it matters. Most adjustable benches quote a back-pad count — seven positions, nine positions — and leave the seat as an afterthought. Combining an independent seat ladder with the back ladder is what produces a three-figure count, and it is what lets you keep your hips from sliding at a steep incline rather than bracing against the pad with your feet.
Twelve inches is the IPF competition pad width, which on an adjustable bench is less common than it should be — adjustable frames tend toward wider pads for stability. A narrow pad lets your shoulder blades hang off the edges and retract fully, which is what a tight press needs.
At 117 lb this is a heavy bench — more than the Fringe Falcon at 108 and more than double the Bells of Steel adjustable at 50. It goes in the rack and stays there.
Eighteen inches of height is an inch above the competition 17, which is the usual consequence of fitting an adjustment mechanism underneath. Shorter lifters should plan on plates under their feet.
The 51.25 by 22.5 inch footprint against a 68-inch overall length tells you the pad and frame overhang the feet — useful to know when planning where it fits inside a rack.
Rogue does not publish a weight capacity, pad thickness or the specific angles in the Gear Specs for this listing. Capacity in particular is what separates adjustable benches, and it is worth getting in writing. Rogue does note the AB-3 shares the AB-2's position count while adding functionality in the incline and decline range.
