Choose this one if
- You pull heavy enough that a standard sleeve runs out of room
- You want maximum whip on a deadlift
- You have nearly ten feet of clear floor
The detail
One hundred and eighteen inches is nearly ten feet. That is not a variation on a barbell, it is a different object — the class of bar used for Elephant Bar style deadlift events, where the extended span between collars produces enormous flex and the bar starts moving well before the plates do.
The 19.5-inch loadable sleeve is the longest on this site by three inches. That is roughly twelve 45 lb iron plates per side. On a normal 16-inch sleeve you run out of bar somewhere around 700 lb with iron; here you do not.
Aggressive knurl with no centre knurl is the correct deadlift specification: grip where your hands go, nothing scraping your thighs on the way up.
The whip is the point and it is extreme. A long, thin, extended-span bar bends dramatically under load, which lets you break the floor from a higher hip position and changes the timing of the whole pull. That helps a deadlift and is completely wrong for anything else — this is not a bar to squat or press with.
At 60 lb it is 15 lb over a standard barbell, which is a significant part of a warm-up set. Write it down.
Measure your floor before ordering. Ten feet of clear length, plus room to walk around both ends, is more than many garages have. It does not rack in any normal rack.
200K+ tensile with maintenance-free bronze bushings.
If you want a deadlift bar at a normal length, the Bells of Steel deadlift bar at 27 mm and 91 inches or Titan's deadlift bar at 90.5 are the conventional options.
