Choose this one if

  • Your plates live on the floor and you have no free wall for a rack-mounted tree
  • You want the storage to move — for cleaning, or to bring plates to the bar
  • You own bumpers rather than iron, which stack badly on horizontal pegs

The detail

Plates on the floor is the other half of the problem bar holders solve. Bumpers stacked flat are hard to pick up, hard to count, and put the whole stack's weight on the bottom plate — which over years is how a bumper goes oval.

This stands them vertically on a 24 by 24 inch base, which is a genuinely small footprint for ten-plus plates. The 800 lb capacity is well past what that many bumpers weigh, so the limit you hit is space on the post, not the rating.

The locking casters are the feature worth paying for. A loaded plate tree weighs several hundred pounds, and being able to roll it to the bar rather than carry plates across the room changes how you load. Lock them before pulling a plate off, though — an unlocked tree wants to move away from you at exactly the wrong moment.

The 48 mm loadable bar diameter is slightly under the 50 mm Olympic sleeve standard, which is deliberate: plates slide on and off easily rather than binding. It also means this holds Olympic plates only, not the 1-inch standard plates from older home sets.

At 24 lb empty it is light enough to reposition unloaded, and the 2x2 inch 11-gauge steel is the same gauge as Titan's budget racks. This is a simple object and there is not much to go wrong with it.
