- You already have a PRX Profile rack on the wall
- You want a bench that never has to be dragged out and squared up
The detail
Twelve inches is the whole product. Folded up, this bench is a 12-inch-wide, 61-inch-tall panel against the wall — no floor space at all. A conventional flat bench is 47 by 12 inches of permanently occupied floor, and in a garage that has to park a car, that difference decides whether the gym exists.
The trade-off is that it lives where you mount it. Unfolded it extends 63 inches into the room and sits 18 inches off the wall, which is a fixed geometry: you have to bench where the bench is. That is the same bargain as a folding rack, and if you already own one, mounting the bench in the matching position means the bar path and the bench line up correctly every session with nothing to adjust.
That repeatability is underrated. A dragged-out bench gets set slightly differently each time, and the day you notice is the day you are under a heavy bar and the J-cups are an inch off. A wall-mounted bench is in the same place forever.
Two things to check. It needs studs and a wall that can take it — this is a mounted product, and mounting hardware is included but your wall has to be sound. And the bench is flat: there is no incline position, so if you press on an incline you need a second bench or a different one, like the Bells of Steel adjustable.
PRX does not publish a weight capacity or pad thickness for this bench, so confirm both with them if you bench heavy.
It ships fully assembled, which for a folding mechanism is the right way to do it — the hinge is the part you least want to build yourself.
