Choose this one if
- You compete, or train to competition standards
- You bench flat and have no intention of inclining
- You want the smallest footprint of any bench here
The detail
Twelve inches is the IPF competition pad width, and it is the number that matters most on this sheet. Training on a wider pad means the bench on the platform will feel foreign on the day you can least afford it. Rogue's Monster Utility Bench 2.0 is the configurable, heavier alternative; this is the straightforward one.
A 14-inch overall width makes this the narrowest bench covered here, and the 47 by 14 inch footprint is the smallest. In a room where the bench has to live somewhere between sessions, that is a real advantage.
Eighteen inches of height is an inch above the competition 17. That suits taller lifters and will lift a shorter lifter's heels; if you are under about 5'6", plan on plates under your feet or look at a 17-inch bench.
Two and a half inches of pad is firm rather than plush, which is what a pressing surface should be. Thick pads compress under a heavy press and cost you the stable shoulder platform you set up so carefully — the 4-inch pads on benches like Titan's TITAN Series flat bench are the comfort-first choice.
2x3 inch 11-gauge steel is lighter tube than the 3x3 on Rogue's Monster bench, which is where the smaller footprint comes from. Eleven-gauge is still proper material.
Rogue does not publish a weight capacity or a bench weight in the Gear Specs for this listing. On a flat bench with no hinge there is very little to fail, but get the capacity in writing if you bench heavy.
