The detail
FID means flat, incline and decline, and the decline half is what most adjustable benches omit. Decline pressing biases the lower chest and lets some people press pain-free when flat and incline both aggravate a shoulder. Buying it built in is cheaper than buying it later.
Eight hundred pounds is a solid rating for an adjustable bench — above the 575 lb Bells of Steel adjustable and the 705 lb Force USA MyBench, below the 992 lb Pro Series FID and the 1,200 lb PRX Razortooth. Hinges and ladders are why adjustable benches rate lower than flat ones.
At 110 lb it is heavy, which is what an 800 lb rating on a hinged frame requires. This goes in the rack and stays there.
The 19-inch height is tall — two inches above the competition 17 — which is the usual consequence of fitting an adjustment mechanism underneath. Shorter lifters should plan on plates under their feet, or look at a 17-inch bench.
The Workbench name matters: this is the base unit of Powertec's Workbench system, which the Levergym, lat tower, functional trainer and other attachments build on. Buying into it is buying into one manufacturer's ecosystem.
Powertec publishes very little here. No pad width, no pad thickness, no number of incline or decline positions, no warranty term, and the "starting weight" and "total shipping weight" fields are left blank. On an adjustable bench the number of angles is most of what you are paying for, and pad width decides how it presses — get all four in writing before ordering.
